Great looking Mallet. Is it really hard. A lot of woods are called ironwood. Do you know of another name?

Nice looking mallet – looks like it would adjust a bad attitude quickly.

I think we’re calling it lignum vitae…since it’s from Jamaica (Jamaica’s national tree)

Yes Lignum Vitae …... Is the actual type of IRON WOOD.. The ONLY real Iron Wood ..Ha
I managed to find the species in connecticut last near a marsh… And man was I disappointed. nothing alike at all…. And the SMELL fragrance rather that lignum vitae gives off from the oils in it is wonderful, such a great wood. Thank you guys much for these replies !!! your the best!

I just scanned in about 600 pre-digital family photos and work photos with my Epson combo print/scan/copy and it worked great. It even has a restore photo and dust removal mode which works for moderate stuff.

Salvaged wood is always a great find, When I was in Hawaii there was a small log in the middle of a path we used every day. When I went to move it out of the way I found out why they called it Iron Wood. It never got moved. I’ll bet this is a heavy mallet. Very cool.

Very cool wood choice. I think you will get a lot of use out of that. It looks like something that was made a long time ago.

Nice find,
this come from, Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ironwood is a name typically thrown around for any type of wood that sinks in water. I have heard it called ironwood, and I’ve actually been sold African Ironwood as Lignum. —Preceding
