This homemade trash can cyclone is designed from Thien’s plans. A lot of you might have already heard and seen his homemade cyclone idea before. I’m here to say it’s the best dust collection system for the price. I hope some large company doesn’t come along and somehow steal his idea; he deserves all the credit for spending the time coming up with this. I’ve tried a couple of different commercial dust collection trash can lids, and this one blows them away.
I made this several months back and decided to post this here because it seems like the number one item people look at on my website. I also provide a link from my website to a couple of other websites if you would like further information on the Thien separator.
With that said, it’s really not hard to make. I provided step by step instructions on how I made mine. I have a Delta 50-760 collection system and I used a 20 gallon trash can. Now I wish I had used a 30 gallon. I have no ads or commercials on my website. www.WoodWorkersWebsite.com
I have dumped the trash can three times already and I haven’t done anything with the plastic collection bag. One of the photos, the close up on the plastic dust collection bag, shows how much dust the plastic bag has collected so far.
If you don’t have one, I recommend taking the time to make one.
