Project Information

My wife and Mother in law both have netbook computers now. They both like to use them in locations without solid surfaces such as laps in the living room. As a Christmas gift, i decided to make both of them smaller wooden trays to keep them elevated above clothing and thus freeing up the air flow beneath so the computers do not overheat.

They are both made with solid cherry bottoms and spalted beech sides.

The way the tray is made, it is possible to use the computers on the shallower side and still plug in the power and USB cables. The deeper side is great for storage of the netbook. They almost fit below the top, but could be a little deeper.

If I had to make them again, I would rout out a spot for a handle or add on a drawer pull handle.
