This is one of the stands I have built for my wife. Canarywood and Peruvian walnut. The ring at the top is hinged with a hook and eye for closing. Like one posted earlier today, this is loosely based on a Taylor Guitar design. I’m not trying to outdo anyone. I was just reminded to finally post these. I added the center post to give the mandolin’s neck some stability. I used Tung Oil Finish. I glued on some felt wherever the instrument would touch. The other stand is for her guitar, a little Taylor ( I think, it’s hard to keep up with her ‘tools’). It is Bubinga and has a center support, but the neck is open. That is her prized Breedlove mandolin, designed by her cousin, Kim Breedlove. It had to have a nice stand! I have had requests for these from some of her friends, but they don’t have the influence my wife has for getting me to do projects!
