For Christmas this year, my wife’s family decided to draw names instead of buy gifts for everyone. I picked my sister-in-law which left me with very few options on what to “buy” her. The last time our families were together we were watching TV and she saw a bench she liked and told her husband they needed one of those. Fortunately for me, I remembered that moment and decided to build her that bench. It turned out great and the gift left her speechless (which is always a nice touch). It was my first time using a router, doing pocket hole joinery and my first experience with upholstery. I only have pictures from my cell phone, but once she sends me some I will update the page. As you can tell from my picture, I do not have a workshop… just a garage I destroy each time I have a project.

It was first stained with Minwax’s polystain… which I will never use again. Sanded it down and started over. It was secondly finished with Cabot’s Dark Walnut and a couple coats of Poly.

No doors. She wanted to put baskets on the bottom.
