Christmas present for my artist sister. Rock maple board. Variety of woods for the paint splotches, including curly maple, cherry, apple, cedar, purple heart, and walnut. hand scraped (too big for the planer). butcher block oil finish.

What a creative idea! I love the “splatters” of inlay! I bet your sister went crazy when she saw this one. And I can see that the sister isn’t the only artist in the family! :)

Well Dave, nice work here! I don’t know how I missed this the first time around, but I did. I actually had a very similar idea to this last week and have been working it out in my head. Then I go and see this today and the wind fell out of my sails!

I’ll keep thinking about it and let it evolve a bit more before I do anything with it, as this project has gone several different directions in my mind.

Very nice work though. I especially like the inscribed text. I had not thought of any sort of inscription. That is very fitting!
