Yes just what the LJ community needed, another cutting board! :)

This is a gift I made this year, made from Black Walnut that was originally harvested by Remington Rifle Co. It didn’t have their desired figured grain, so they were going to scrap it but I helped it to find some new life as this small cheese cutting board.

It measures ~5×8 and has a mineral oil finish. The bottom edge has a round-over with a chamfer on top.

Thanks for looking!

Nice looking piece of walnut…it’s amazing what the big companies will just throw away.

I would be more likely to call this face grain or edge grain. End grain would show the concentric growth rings.

That is an attractive board you’ve made with an interesting story to accompany it. Doesn’t look like end grain, but it’s still pretty!

Whoops! Yes edge grain would be more in line with this. Thanks :)
