November, 2010—Four woods are glued up for this box. The front is a handsome walnut. I used something round to create the shape. The face of this box is curved. This means the box must be cut in the band saw in two dimensions, which can be tricky. The drawer bottom is lined with a piece of felt. The knob is from the craft store. The finish is clear lacquer spray from a can. Thanks for looking.

Really nice box Art. I like the way the wood combo works.

I like the extra dimension you added with the front curve, as well as your wood choices.

Cut the curve on the front before anything else, right?

Nice box! Its very sophisticated for being so simple. I love when boxes have the curve to the face as well, as you’ve done. One thing I was wondering… I couldn’t see in the pictures where you actually made your initial cut for the drawer. Did you just do a great job glueing it back together, or is there a way to cut it out without cutting through the outside shell?

To BrianAdams: Thank you for the nice comments. The darker wood makes if a lot harder to find the glue line. No magic.
