I made these recipe boxes for the girls in the family (the ones who do all the great cooking this time of year!). I used some sort of wood that I still don’t know what it is…fir maybe? Anyways, this is my first time making something like this, first time using finger joints (or are they called box joints?) Each lid has a different knob that suits the recipient. The dimensions are for a 4”x6” recipe card inside.

I finished them with wax because whatever wood they are blotches pretty bad with stain or oil, plus I didn’t have much time to finish them. I only started them on Tuesday.

I spent about 3 days in the shop making these and learned a few things along the way. The important thing is they loved them so all in all they were a success!

Thanks for looking!

Great pieces Greg. Nice touch on easing the sides too. And the joints can be called either. Well done and I’m sure they’ll love them!

Very nice, I really like the shape of the boxes, and the finger joints really add to the appeal!
