This work was created as a Holiday Gift for my Father.

My Dad asked me a few months ago if I could find the time to “slap together” a quick image of a fish. I said “I’d think about it” and let it drop. I knew the Holidays were coming up and now I had a gift idea! ;-)

I got the plans online from Spittin' Image WoodWorking and really enjoyed working with them – top shelf!

The cutting itself is done on Baltic Birch 1/8” plywood. Finish on the cutting is a quick soak in lemon oil and a thick felt backing.

The frame was built to the dimensions of the cutting as is American Chestnut. Finish for the frame is Danish oil and a few coats of paste wax.

Overall dimensions of the piece are around 15×12 inches.

This has to be one of my most challengin projects to date and I really love the way it turned out – my Dad loves it as well and that matters even more! :-)

Wow, looking at the detail on the fish and in the lure graveyard shows that you have spent a lot of time on this. It turned out great!
