Happy Holidays everyone … I hope you are all having a relaxing weekend … We’re working on a really big kitchen island … One of my guys jokes that it;s big enough to be a continent … It’s 16’ x 4’ and is pretty much complete now except for the finishing which we may or may not do in house … This week coming up we will make up some distressed dark samples and, if they are approved, we’ll go at it after the the first … It’s up on wheels now and designed to break into three pieces for moving … The 3/4 turned quartered oak columns were a challenge as was finding the 16’ quartersawn oak for the long panel and the face board … Supporting the overhanging granite and keeping the 16’ face board straight was also an engineering challenge … To see more and bigger photos and read more about the construction of this project, visit our dorset custom furniure blog at this link

Best wishes to all for a healthy and prosperous new year … dan

Beautiful – got to be one hell of a big kitchen that it’s going into AND you have to have an big shop to build such a piece. Spectacular workmanship.

That’s one big kitchen! You need a palm tree on that island! Not to mention a Piña Colada.

WOW!!! My entire kitchen isn’t 16’ and I don’t have an extra 4 feet in the middle either. I am amazed at the size and complexity of this.
