I wound up making about a half dozen of these for Christmas gifts for some friends and family this year. Somehow though I appearently did not take pictures. I have one more that I am finishing up and will be given later later this week so I will try to remember to get some pics of it.
I was basically looking for a useful item for everyone and these are what I came up with using various woods I had on hand. The first one was a cherry log I have had for a while and since my B-i-L is more into the outdoors it just made sense. The other two pics are some that I made for my family, using the bandsaw and a drill press. the various sized holes are able to fit pens/pencils and also sharpie style markers. The cup has a rare earth magnet set into to it to hold paper clips. Then they each have a small drawer. They were each well accepted and I am planning to make more and try out some additional designs. I did take pictures of the process while working on the box in the 3rd picture and may post them into a blog later this week. Just need to finish the last one I am working on and try to find my workbench after the Christmas rush.

Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend, thanks for looking.
