Completed this pen (and a number of others…) today. Figured with the snow holding us at the house, it’d be a good chance to do some turning. Cold as it was out there…I still turned 5 pens; with many breaks in between. This kit is a WC Platnium Navigator with a white jasper tru-stone blank.

This is my first tru-stone and was surprised at how easily I turned it. I sharpened my spindle gouge three times just to make sure I didn’t mess it up. The blank and the kit were Christmas presents from my wife.

I apologize for the pictures. Taken on an Apple Iphone 3G. Thanks for looking though.

Very nice pen. I’ve wondered about how well the tru-stone turns. Are there any cautions that you would suggest when turning tru-stone? Thanks for the post!

Go slow with your turning. I turned it at 840 rpm. I kept my gouge sharp and everything went very well. I was quite surprised with the outcome. This is the first one I had done so I was very cautious. Good luck with it.

Nice looking pen!

I’ve made several with the TrueStone materal now and it’s been one of my favorites for how well it shines up during polising. And I think It’s a much more durable material for high-end pens that will outlast other acrlycs many times over.

Great job and keep up the good work!
