Good Morning,
I have been playing around with building the older style toys out of scrap or cut offs. Basically begin with a photo and then decide on the sequence to get the parts cut and put together. It sounds a lot harder then it is.
In my neighborhood the toys without batteries are getting very popular. I have made quite a few of these tops which are styled after an old toy from the 1800’s. Not difficult to make, look great, spin almost forever and the parents like them as much as the kids.
I don’t charge for the toys I make. If a kid wanders by and likes it they go home with it.

Great idea. Also a bit of science in the toy to strike a kids imagination.

That’s a delight. And quite a bit of prcision work going into each one. If I were a kid, I’d being wandering by slowly, quite regularly!

Cool top! Do you have or could you take pictures of how the rope spinner part is made and how it works?

With all the lead scares of today I’m surprised more people are not going to the old style wood toys. A top, what kid isn’t fascinated by one? Your’s look super. Thanks for sharing.

That’s really neat! I’m a big fan of wood toys. Like Brian says, I’m surprised there aren’t more of them.

For John Gray,
Hi John, I added another photo. I hope it clarifies the way the string is wound.
