I built this blue jay for my mother-in-law’s birthday. I decided to replace the wood for the feathers on the back with white maple and then stained it blue to really make it stand out and look realistic. The remainder of the wood follows the colour and grain suggested by the pattern I bought.

We have Blue Jays visit our birdfeeder daily. The resemblance is incredible. Very nice. Thanks for sharing.
