This is just a simple, lift lid box. My wife and I have a tradition of keeping various memorabilia from our travels during the year in a box and opening it at the end of the year to revisit things. This is like a yearly time capsule and I’ve gotten in the habit of creating a new box each year for the honor.

This year’s box is made of lyptus (almost pink in color) with holly spline accents. The top is a raised panel construction that was then carved using the CNC and then cleaned up with hand tools (the fun part…). The finish is just 6 coats of spray lacquer.
