After a lot of trial and tribulations I finally got this project done. This seemed like it should be the easiest Christmas project that I had planned, however, the paint caused me nothing but pain. The first one on the last coat of black dried with an orange peel effect. The second board the paint didn’t ad-hear at all to the board, put on the yellow stipes that i had planned and it peeled off all the paint including the black. Ended up having to sand down the first board, prime it with an oil based primer and decided to paint it black. At this point I am a little reticent to paint MDF again.

It turned out okay, however, my little brother loved it, so in the end that is all that mattered.

BTW, thanks for all the advice on the blog post about the paint issues. As always the folks here on Lumberjocks are a great help. Have a Merry Christmas everyone!

Sometimes things just don’t go as planned do they? Well, despite the trials and tribulations, the project is finished and he likes it. Then it was a worthwhile effort. :) Now enjoy the holidays. :)
