My family plays secret santa instead of giving everyone a gift. There’ll probably be 20 or more people involved tomorrow night, and it is a lot of fun. We have a $15 maximum on the gift, so I’m OK, the lumber probably didn’t cost two bucks. Won’t be much of a secret, but what the heck..
Inside is one of my custom letter openers.

Good looking gift. I would be happy if I received something like that.
I like the secret Santa idea and think whoever gets it will be lucky.

Thank you everybody. Yes, it is walnut and maple. Jim, the top was done as follows:
First it was dyed with a brown mahogany color, then almost all sanded off. Then it was dyed with a dark red mahogany, then nearly all sanded off. Finally , it was dyed with a lemon yellow, then partly sanded off. Then it was oiled (Watco), then shellac’d, then sprayed with lacquer. I used Transtint water soluble dyes.

As the game turned out, my 90 year old grandmom had the first pick, which meant that she also had the last steal of the game. She walked around the room looking at all of the gifts everyone had, and snatched my little wooden box right out of the hands of one of her grand daughters! It was pretty funny, and also an honor. Must be nice to be 90 and not give a crap about who you pi*s off.
