I made three of these; one for my wife and one for each daughter. The body is bloodwood strips laminated so that top and bottom are edge grain. Sort of a fancy cutting board. The rest is ebony. The plan came from a old Wood Magazine. It was fun to make and easier than I thought. To be so hard, bloodwood and ebony work very well. They sand easily to my surprise. The finish is home-made beeswax and bol buffed out with a old t-shirt.

Cool “cutting board”. Way too nice to cut on. I’m sure your wife and daughters will love them.

very cool! I like it. Not sure I’d use it as a cutting board, but definitely use it as a hot plate holder of some sort.

I love that it is a little different but still functional.

Those are cool. My daughter drew me a picture of a lady bug that I still have in my office. I might have to use it as a pattern, she would freak out if I did. You know they have those bugs that look like lady bugs but aren’t. They really stink if you touch them. I really hope yours dodn’t do that when you touch them.. Just kidding about the cutting board not the real thing (they really do stink bad)..
