My wife’s girlfriends that is.
After seeing some different earrings on Mere Mortals and doing some further research on LumberJocks I asked my wife if she would liketo make some various gifts, she of course is pretty busy with her sewing, candy and cookies but liked the idea. I went to the local wood store and picked up a few more turning blocks. I have yet to actually turn anything from these blocks but love to buy them and experiment with the exotic woods. So anyway once I had those I was on my way.
The 2nd picture shows how I made the round ones using drill press and bandsaw. The 3rd gives you an idea of how the shaped one were done. As I always do the templates were made in powerpoint. The last few pics are of them hanging on a quickly made finishing rig, I was able to pick up ornament hooks cheap this time of year. They worked great. I sprayed them all with Deft Clear Gloss. Then my wife made them look pretty with all the stones and findings attached. You can also see the snowmen she made, each girl got a pair of each.
These were a lot of fun to make and I am planning to make some more later on to put aside as gifts, I loved working with the different woods and watching patterns evolve as I cut into them. The best part for me though was working with my wife to make something for friends.

Woods used were purpleheart, bubinga, ebony, zebrawood, red oak, padauk if I remember correctly.

Thanks all for looking, multiple other projects coming soon. One is behind me in my office with the glue drying now.

Thanks for the feedback. She gave them to her friends last night and they loved them.

MrsN, thank you as your jewely is some of the stuff I looked at, I really like it. I am really wanting to try something with a laminated piece of wood.
