Just started messing around with wood a couple of years ago. I made a some bedside tables – starting with poplar and moving up to cherry as my mistakes grew fewer (or I learned to hide them better). The design was based on Old Yankee Workshop shaker tables. This was my first attempt at adding a different type of drawer, a shelf and using multiple wood species. The top/aprons are tiger maple, walnut and cherry, legs are cherry. The finish is several coats of Tried and True BLO with varnish (which takes forever to dry) followed by a couple of coats of wax. The Tried and True is nice since it is non-toxic. Suggestions and critiques are welcome…

Welcome to LJ’s!
That’s a nice piece Pitt. I like the knob and the way you combined the different woods. The BLO really brought out the grain.
