Mule head sign

I finally got a picture of the mule head sign. It is wrapped and labled from Santa Clause and is for an older man at church as a Christmas present. I am guessing that he problably logged with mules in his younger days. It is about 12 inches across and has a hanger on the back so he can hang it up.
These othere two were also on my list for this busy week. She requested that they not be varnished, she will put a waterseal on them. What are the pros and cons of spar varnish versus waterseal?
