I had taken a wood shop class in the eighth grade. That was almost 15 years before I got a wild hair to build this project. My wife had told me she wanted a chaval mirror with a jewelry box. I looked everywhere and couldn’t find a mirror I liked much less one with a jewelry box behind it. I decided to make her one for christmas. This is the first project that I have made without 1.) Plans and 2.) supervision. I told her she had to decide on the finish after I gave it to her, that was three years ago…..

That is really cool looking! I’d love to see some more detailed shots of the jewelry box and how it is connected to the mirror. I can’t quite figure it all out from the photos.

mirror door is attached with a piano hinge….i didn’t take into consideration the knob pulls…now the mirror hits…makes me nervous…but if it breaks I want to make another one out of something other than pine

Great looking project Pimp (can I say that). I bet that would look great in some Quartersawn Oak.
