I made a bunch of Potpourri Containers or bowls or whatever they’re called to hold potpourri. These were turned from 3×6 x 6 inch blanks, hollowed out and topped with pewter covers. I have a small supply of 8/4 bubinga I picked up a couple of years ago and since it wasn’t thick enough by itself I added the zebra wood and maple for contrast. I think it turned out well. All of these are finished with Hut Crystal Coat friction polish. It’s what I had on hand from making pens and it seems to be a pretty good finish for these also. The first two are made from bubinga and zebrawood, the second two are bubinga and maple and the last two are walnut and red oak. For some reason the pics are slightly distorted, appearing taller and smaller in diameter than they really are. Not sure why this happens. Anyway, these are the first four of ten. More to come.

Excellent work Darell. I really like the zebrawood. Great finish.
Have your say...
