Hello folks!

The log cabin’s construction is almost complete (this is the third episode). Frankly, I thought I would be fully done by now and looking back I’ll say this: I could have built two cabins had I used skinny logs in their construction.

Here’s a problem for you guys: besides the fact that it is a good idea to have a back door if a bear decides to camp at the front of the cabin, why do you think I made a second door?

Here is 4 min video about the process: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7DOCsMBA5lo

Max,
It is a very interesting video and well made thank you.
I am not quite sure just where your cabin is but I have been Googling the lake, its huge! and I have been looking for the possible location of your construction, I have not been able to locate it just yet, ...still looking.

Now as for why you have a back door …well all homes have at least two doors as normal constructon.

It the cabin in a state park or public area or do you own a parcel of land within it.

You have quite a few followers keenly watching your activities, in particular there is an unanswered question relating to the right hand window work in progress.

Another great video, you explain your process very well.

You mention planting exotic deciduous trees around your cabin. What types of trees are you planting?

Happy New Year and Best wishes for 2019.

Rob, thank you very much!

Yes, Ladoga Lake is the largest lake in Europe (area-wise) and has 650 islands…)) It won’t be easy to find me there))

It was mainly, because it was so hard to get long logs there… But, of course, there were other reasons…

Yes, I’ve been blessed with good followers. I have over a million subs on my two Russian channels (Адвокат Егоров and Адвокат Егоров LIVE)...

Thank you!

Well, I should probably clarify myself. I meant exotic for hour northern forests. I planted a couple of species of walnut, oak, maple and a few more I don’t even know the names in English. I picked up the nuts and seeds at our botanical garden, so I hope most of the species would be able to take the low temps here…

Happy New Year!

Max, great stuff. A lot of folks are living vicariously through your exploits. When we were young we wanted to be a Fireman, or A Mountain Man, living the dream.

2 doors let you run from the bear at the other one, plus you will have good ventilation with air movement going, and or coming

You have a huge red arrow pointed at your roof.. maybe that would be for door number 3. Placed there so you can get out with a lot of snow on the ground.

Be safe, and enjoy.

I just had a thought for your stump offcuts,
You could use them to make a deadfall beartrap.

I like your way of thinking))
The main reason why is to make the extra-thick logs shorter, so it is easier to skid them to the construction site. But all other reasons too..))

I thought that looked like a walnut you were putting in your backpack. Interestingly American Black Walnut is native to my area (I have two in my yard), but local lumber mills classify it as an exotic hardwood because it is so expensive and difficult to find. People actually stole an entire black walnut tree from a local cemetery a few years ago. I hope your trees thrive and produce big crops of nuts and seeds for you and the forest animals.
