What type of wood did you use for that bench – I see some red colored wood, too. How did you finish it?

I made this from culled lumber from Lowe’s. All white pine. I plan to stain it with mahogany flame from Cabot’s. The two colored pieces already have the stain from an earlier bench. Got the design from a woodworking book but the bluebirds are my own. Thanks for the positive feedback!
