When meeting up with friends to smoke cigars, I currently take my two to three cigars in a bright yellow, hard plastic cigar case. It works. It ain’t special. It doesn’t catch any eyes.
So I decided to make a handsome wooden case to travel with my three cigars.

Walnut top/bottom sandwiching Hard Maple sides. Mini Barrel hinges open nicely with rare earth magnets to keep it closed.

Finished with two coats of BLO followed by four coats of Arm R Seal.

I made four total with every intention to make more.

I’m putting this out there, more for me than you, but if you plan to make a box like this and will use barrel hinges…drill the holes BEFORE gluing the top/bottom to the sides. What a time saver that would have been. I picked up that little tip somewhere on the interwebs when looking to see how people install mini barrel hinges. Of course, I did this AFTER I already glued my boxes up. Lesson learned.

Looks awesome! Love the finish pics, looks straight out of a magazine.

i love the design and color contrast. I’ll be trying to make some of my own, for gifts and myself. Thanks for posting.
