We did a bathroom remodel and I was asked to create a custom vanity. The designer wanted the vanity to be very similar to a piece of furniture that was in the bedroom. Also the designer specified that the piece be made of Alder wood. I ad never worked with Alder before and I found it to be fairly easy to work with. I noticed that Alder could be made to mimic other types of wood, like Cherry, maple.
Anyway, here are the results. It is still missing two small drawers in the towers and the handles, which are being bought by the designer. All moldings except for the roping were custom milled using a Willimas & Hussey molder planer. (A great machine that is still going after 30 years)
The piece was distressed and finished by a local finisher.
