After several years of putting it off, I finally finished the bed my wife has been asking for. Cherry with rift sawn with oak veneer panels. I built a jewelry chest with this wood combination and she and I really like it. Nothing too complex in the construction other than the maneuvering the large pieces around my basement shop. Sawed 1/8” cherry veneers to buildup onto a form and into the vacuum press for the arches. For the joinery to the arches, I borrowed a friend’s Domino to cut the slip tenons. Worked very well – Festool builds nice tools! Boiled linseed oil and several coats of wipe on poly followed by a coat of wax. Happy with the results -

Comments or questions welcome.

Cheers – Matt

That’s a really nice looking bed. The oak veneer really stands out against the cherry.

You made a great wood selection. I love the rift sawn panels against the cherry. Great job!
