My Off Grid Log Cabin

Hello folks!

Back in 2015 during my vacation, I started to build a log cabin using fallen trees at Ladoga Lake. As a side note: I purposefully didn’t chop a single live tree for my cabin construction which made the task more difficult.

I am a practicing lawyer based in St.Petersburg, Russia and can work on this colonization project only during my summer vacation, which is about a month a year. This is why my log cabin is still not quite finished, and I have a lot of interesting challenges ahead of me.

My cabin has log walls, a roof covered with growing grass and strawberry, original windows, and a traditional Slavic door that I particularly enjoyed making.

You can watch a 3 min opening video on the cabin’s construction here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6HNfMBgnZ0

Hi Max
I see its late afternoon in St Petersburg as we type.

I have waited patiently for this video of your cabin build since your reply to my comment on your project here.
http://lumberjocks.com/projects/395921

You Max are obviously quite an unusual special person and I mean that in the absolute nicest of ways.
Your build here is so unique and one can only imagine how much inner fulfillment you have received from building this lovely home.
Your an inspiration Max, I love your work.
It makes me want to book an airline ticket for me and my Lovie Cheryl to come visit and see it for ourselves.
Enjoy your Sunday evening

Kind Regards
Anthony

Very nice looking cabin. Having a rustic cabin in the woods is something that a lot of people wish for. I look forward to seeing more pictures of the interior as well.

I’m impressed by the roof half logs. I’ve never seen that before. I live in a log home similar in construction.
