As featured in Fine Woodworking magazine (Nov./Dec. 2018), this guide makes sharpening curved scrapers a lot easier. Here is the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_qY6oMaFAbk

Note: The jig can also be used to sharpen regular card scrapers of thickness same as the curved scrapers’.

The challenge in making this jig lies with sawing a kerf that is snug fit for the curved scraper, meaning the tablesaw and bandsaw won’t make the cut (no pun intended). I used these saws to get the perfect fit:

First round of sawing: A Japanese pull saw like: http://www.leevalley.com/en/wood/page.aspx?p=32936&cat=1,42884,42898 (great value for its price!)
Final round with a Veritas flush-cut saw (to make the kerf a hair wider): http://www.leevalley.com/en/wood/page.aspx?p=32928&cat=1,42884

Stamping the maple leaf on one the seven guides:

I made one of these a few days ago for myself but haven’t really had a chance to use it yet.
