I saw this project on the woodsmith show one time and figured I would try it out. I made this out of maple and Paduak. During this, I realized I need to purchase a better set of dado blades. For the first one, its OK but I won’t make more until I buy a better set of blades or I may use my router instead.

Thx for looking.

This is a nice piece, Ken. I like your version better than Woodsmith’s since I would rather see a contrasting wood added rather than splitting the block. You paired a nice set of woods as well.

I was somewhat surprised to see this on here right now. I have 9 of them out in my shop that I am making for C-mas presents. Mine, I didn’t add the center strip of wood, but just cut mine in half, to give it a shade look. I have them all cut and drilled, just need to put them together and put a finish on them. Good to see others making them too, good job.
