The chess section is made out of birdseye maple and walnut. The boarder is red oak. I stained the oak with a light cherry stain and clear coated everything with minwax wipe on poly.
Going into this project I didn’t think that it would be that difficult but it turned out to be quite that. All in all I’m happy with the way it turned out.

A great chess board. A nice job. Is it all solid wood? or veneers?

Very nice. Every time I see another chess board I get a little closer to making another batch myself.
