Here is a heart shaped end table I built today 11-26-2010. I’m not sure what type of wood the top is but the base is made of Sassafras.

Like this! From the pic it looks like you tenoned the log through the top? Did you?

Yeah I tenoned through the top to see if I liked it. Just got the tenon set and wanted to try them out. Thanks

That’s a very self contained table I’d say. It’s sort of a gift of nature. Take a little material from nature and add some human labor and imagination and you have a table. Good work.
