What a fun project! After taking a course at Little Miami Handworks last year, I became interested in using hand tools. Started watching Roy Underhill and saw this project and had the desire to try it. No, I am a blended woodworker and used power tools to mill the wood and make the miter cuts. The rest was done with hand tools. Because of this project I was justified in buying a Veritas combination plane. What tool can I buy next?

Great work. Those miters are difficult. I tried something similar with hand tools and gave up. good idea to use some power tools. Enjoy!

Very nice. Evidence of your superior design skills.

I am always a nosy person when I see a project with hidden compartments. Where do you get your ideas? From the photos it is hard to see just where the secret compartment is and how it is done.

Woodworking is so addictive isn’t it? Especially when you see what kind of trinkets and storage units you can create with your own hands…
