Hand Plane Box

Recently a good friend introduced me to the world of hand planes and kindly gifted me with four of his. I figured that good hand planes needed a good home; a safe place from the surrounding world. I had a fun time building this box, and, yes, the planes were used in its construction. I plan to use the extra space in the box for plane supplies. The box holds a #5, #3, #95, and low angle block, and has compartments for extra blades. Made from flame maple with Redwood burl inlaid maple leaf. Thanks for viewing!

Very nice! Angles of the dividers may have been fun.

Thanks guys! ksSlim, ya, the angle´s were a little fun; I eyeballed the angle and cut them on my scroll saw; the project took around four afternoons after school. Thanks for the encouragement, Mike!

Nicely done Dale and a great way for your friend to know how appreciated this generous gift was.

Really strong work Dale! Great use of space and layout. Now, you’re just getting started with hand planes, right? So… you’ll need about a dozen more of these ;-)
