Well, after looking at all the beautiful cutting boards on LJ’s, I thought I would toss my hat in the ring and give it the old college try and make a few for Christmas gifts.
Board 1 – Cherry, Hickory, Mahogany, Walnut and Purple Heart
Board 2 – Maple, Mahogany, Purple Heart, Walnut and Cherry
Board 3 – Cherry, Maple, Mahogany, Purple Heart and Walnut
Board 4 – Mahogany, Cherry, Walnut, Purple Heart, Maple and Hickory
Boards 5 – 7 – Cherry, Mahogany and Hickory with Maple Strips
I wanted to try a few different boards so I made a few of the “Drunken” boards too. The first set of drunken boards I made ended up in the trash bin. (guess I wasn’t drunk enough when I made them…jk jk) Actually, I made the second of curves too extreme and it was just a horrible mess.
Thanks for looking and feel free to comment/critique.
Cheers….Don

Great work Don. What an excellent first batch. I’d say you have this down pat.

Welcome to the club Don. There are some real masters in the cutting board club here. McLean is one, Dusty is another and Steve is no slouch, but you should pay real close attention to Larry from “Down Under”. He’s a true artist with a great wit. Great job. Let’s see some more…..

Thanks Jim…
Actually, I would like to thank McLean and Scott for the guidance and info they gave me when I was building these.
A little help went a long way.

I don’t know how I missed these beauties !! Great job on all of them and especially the drunken boards with your use of 3 different woods plus the accent stripes : )

OK Dusty, Larry, Jeff, McLean Steve Scott, Don and any others that I may have missed, the LVDT went right over my head so I called upon fellow LJ God of Biscuts to decypher the LVDT. As soon as he told me “Legless Vegetable Deat Table” a bell went off in my head. Yeah, McLean coined that a short while back. So, I am making a motion that we officially change the name of the club to “The LVDT Club”. All in favor say aye. And I agree Dusty, LMAO…...even my wife thought it was extremely cleaver and witty. The first members meeting will be held at the following coordinates. 39°32′56″N 119°34′32″W / 39.54889°N 119.57556°W / 39.54889; – 119.57556

You looked it up. Just a test to see who was awake and alert. Good job Don. Maybe we could meet a few miles west of the coordinates in Aug and see some COOL CARS. This time of year is NOT a good time to be there, unless you really like cold….and or you are a skier. In fact, the 1960 Winter Olympics were held just a few miles southwest of there, Squaw Valley CA on the shores of Lake Tahoe. Then there’s the Donner Party fiasco. A lot of history in those regions.
