I recently built this Morris Chair from southern yellow pine, as a prototype for the Quartersawn Oak one I plan to build. I made the curved arms from laminated 3/16” 6” pine. I also did the upholstery work. Pretty pleased with the results and will take the lessons learned and start the Oak version in the near future.

Looks good! Doing upholstery on a Morris chair can be quite satisfying. I’ve enjoyed doing my own leather upholstery on chairs and benches. Pretty fun work once you have the right tools.

Yours looks comfy.

Beautiful work and chair. I was trained on syp, still love it 55 years later and use it on a regular basis.

SYP looks great, and I bet the chair is comfy and will last a long long time. Great job

That chair looks too great for just one photo. Well done.

That looks really good. Can’t wait to see the oak version.

But… What are going to do with the prototype? Seems like a perfectly good chair.

Chair looks great, I’ll bet its comfortable. I built one over 30 years ago using oak salvaged from a set of stairs I took apart and we are still using it.
