Nicely done. Is that red oak that you built this from. Nice grain. You should add some more pictures and give us some details about the wood, finish, how you built, etc. Inquiring minds want to know. Besides, I am planning to build something like this for my church and would really like to know more about how you built it.
Thanks for sharing,
Doc

This is actually white oak with a Minwax ‘Special Walnut’ stain. I then topcoated it with two coats of Minwax Wipe-on Poly. I used spline miters, but my miters were opened a little. I was concerned also about the durability of the corners, so I put a 1/4” x 1/4” piece in. I routed a 1/4” rabbet on all corners then added the piece. I also have casters in the base. The fixed casters are on the left side and the pivoting casters are on the right. This makes it easier to move around. The rear has shelving.
I have added a picture here of the rear of the lectern (this picture is of the one I made for the church). They differ slightly in dimension, wood types (white oak versus mahogany), trim, and the cross ornament.

Also, the cross on this lectern is made of curly maple.

Very nice! We just moved into a new church and the metal stands in our Sunday School room barely holds one Bible. I’m pondering making a lectern and donating it to the class. Thanks for sharing!
