Finallly finished the bookcase to match the nightstand (see my other projects): Solid maple, maple veneered ply, and spalted maple accents/trim. Other design features include an arched bottom on the face frame and contrasting walnut pegs in the corners. I went a little over the original budget but still accomplished my goal of building some nice furniture for our spare bedroom for “IKEA” prices: bookcase and nightstand came out to between $250-300. Next up is two matching frame and panel bookcases with bookmatched walnut crotch panels. Needless to say, those are a commission and will not have the same budgetary restrictions. See you in a few months!
