Here it is, my first try at a Cookie Tin Banjo. It is just a Walnut neck, an old Cookie Tin, and some heavy fishing line. And it would surprise you how good it sounds. I have several more on the work bench right now.
I have started a blog describing how to build one. I am not too fast, but I will get it done as soon as I can. Oh, and I do not mind feed back, if you see something that could be done differently, please let me know.

Seriously on the tutorial tip. I want to learn the banjo, but don’t want to fork out the cash for a decent Deering until I know if I like it.

I’m throwing my request for a tutorial into the hat. Very cool. I didn’t even know such a thing existed. I’m assuming this is something others have done before since you said “first try”.

I have a good old banjo with no idea how to play it. I know it is at least from the 50’s and was one of my great uncles. I think I would like to try and make one of these guys as well. So, here is another, Yea for the tutorial.
