doesn’t look quite the same when you omit some hardware.
I’m working on a set of CD Racks for a coworker—actually making something other than a pen ;0—and while the glue-ups for the sides are drying I took a break to make this pen.
It’s a gunmetal slimline without the centerband made with crossgrain black cherry.
The finish is CA and buffed out with plastic polish.
This was a kick to turn as all I used were two scary sharp skews the entire time and little curly shavings were billowing off the blank floating around while I was shaping the pen.

Looks good Gary. I remember a friend of mine that would cut out pieces of a plastic Clorox jug to use for accent stripes at the butt end of a gun stock. Just a thought…Might make some cool pen “striping”. Lots o different colors of plastic jugs out there too!

pretty poetic description of the process.. I’ve never made a pen (or turned anything) but it sure sounds like a wonderful experience
