This is a project that I made for my grandfather. He was with my wife and I in July when we visited Roberts Studio and requested me to make this puppy for him. He is 95 and should be an inspiration to all of us. For his 90th birthday he took flying lessons, up until last year lived by himself, very active in the Masons, always online, and still taking classes to learn new things. He is now living with my brother to make his life less stressful. I have made him many things over the years and he wanted something small he could hang in his room. It was the least I could do to make him happy. He has had some medical issues in the last month and I can only hope this will cheer him up. Usually I can’t make a project without making some of my own changes (hopefully to improve it but not always lol), on this one I made it as close as I could to what he asked for. Hope he likes this and it shows in some little way how much I love him. It was made from walnut, aspen, mohogany, teak, ebony, curly maple, cherry, and poplar.

Wow, awesome job on your doggy. It looks fantastic and i loved the story. I know a 76 year old man i meet several months ago. The nick name that i gave him was super man. This man does so much, i wished i hope i have half the enery and get up and go if i get his age.

Really first rate! Not a speckled pup in a little red wagon, but just as cute.

Kory,
You did a fantastic job. Your grandfather should be delighted. When we first looked at the thumbnail, it just looked like a photograph of a puppy in a basket! Thanks for posting.

Very nicely done and the puppy is really too cute. I’m sure he’ll enjoy this and see how your quality craftsmanship shows your love and admiration.

when I first saw the pic on the project page I thought it was a puppy (real) sitting in a basket someone had made. Huh Fantastic job.
There are a lot of extraordinary Elders out there – with so much to teach us. A big bravo to your Grandfather!

beautiful job kory … and a heartwarming story to boot … i was lucky that my father was still dancing and driving at 92, and made it to be 94. anything you can do for him and any time you can spend with him now will be with you for the rest of your life … keep at it. dan

Cute pooch, Kory. He looks like he’s just waiting for someone to scratch behind his ears.

Great job Kory, your patience pays off! Love the story as well. Keep up the good work. The puppy and basket look very realistic.
