Dragon Intarsia

My wife Michelle just finished this amazing intarsia dragon made from exotic and domestic hardwoods; the only stain is on the background. All other colors are the natural wood with a clear finish.

The pattern is by Kathy Wise. Framed, it’s 20” x 32”. The closeup photos show how Michelle shaped, carved, and textured the anatomical components.

Some parts rise away from the background to heighten the 3D effect.

She’s super talented, and I made the frame :)

All, I was glad to show Michelle the positive feedback! She’s got the patience for intarsia AND for putting up with me. And she likes buying tools as much as I do …
