Project Information

This bed that was built in September 2010 was designed for lots of storage. It has a total of 12 drawers in the pedestal, double doors at the foot, and two large pullout bins under the headboard. This is a version of my Storage platform bed The customer didn't want the bookcase headboard. What we decided to do was to raised the storage section on the bottom half to act as a pillow stop.

The TV Dresser shown in the picture I didn't build but I did sell to the customer. It is something from one of my suppliers. I gave the customer two quotes one with me building it and one with me selling that one. Funny thing is, the customer found the picture on some website (not mine) and ask if I could build something similar. I already had that exact one on my showroom floor. What's the odd of that?

I ended up mating the style and color of the stock dresser. The drawer fronts were curved. I ended up cutting the long edge angle on the table saw and hand shaping the curve on the ends.

The color is a cappuccino color that I achieved by dying the wood a brown first and then coming over that with a wiping stain.

Wood: Maple
Color: Custom Cappuccino
Finish: Medium sheen Pre-Catalyzed Lacquer

I like the design. You've allowed for a lot of storage, especially with the two-drawer grouping. Nice work.
