Victoria is expected to join us sometime around the first of the year. Her mother is a very special person. Four years ago, she had a lump on her neck. It was tongue cancer. (Your tongue goes all the way down to your adam’s apple guys) The surgeon completely cut out her tongue, then cut out the cancer, and then reattached her tongue. She wasn’t expected to taste again, and not speak for at least 6 months. She spoke the 2nd day, and has mostly normal tastes, except red wine still burns way down the esophagus. Well he is now cancer free for 3 years and got doctor’s permission to have a baby: Victoria.

Mom is my son-in-law’s sister-in-law. The big C and the recovery has brought us all quite close. This is my gift to her and the new member of our family.

The Cradle is my design, from the hundreds I saw from Google search, I added what I wanted and made it as I wanted. It is make of Pine so that the baby’s rambunctiousness can be recorded in the bumps and bangs. The whitewash is to match the baby’s room. The ends and the sides are 1×6 edge glued. The corners are 3/4×3/4 box joint. The stand’s crosspiece is double tenonned to each side, and the the upright is tenonned to the curved base.

Nice story and a great looking cradle.
It is a pity that they dont stay that long in it.
