Yes, I’m a Yooper. Thought about this for quite awhile, then one day at work, thought of using a hunting guide for the pattern. Had to re-size it a little, but it worked fine. Since then, I’ve made about 50 of them. I save scrap pieces of oak or maple, draw the pattern, then wait for a “rainy” day and start cutting them out. I do minimal sanding on the edges due to the tight spots. Oil finish. Mostly given as gifts, but sold some too. Any state would work.

Ya, Good Point. Yes, by Yooper, I mean I’m from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The funny part is I cut out the Lower Peninsula when I made the first key rack, but made it 1/2 sized. That is because for years, the “official” Michigan Map downsized the Upper Peninsula. Because of this, several generations of people living in Michigan think the UP is much smaller than it actually is. Pay backs…

I love it! Nice job. I’m from the U.P. also, but now live it CT. I know a lot of ex-Yoopers that would like one of those. Maybe, a little Baraga county curly maple next time.
