This wood carving is an enlargement of a 1940 Plymouth grille emblem, a 4 inch tall cloisonné piece decorating the front end of an old automobile. The basswood carving is 16 inches tall and the cloisonné enameling is simulated by metallic blue acrylic. The sailing ship was the symbol for Plymouth vehicles.

Yes, I had a 1940 Plymouth during the 1970’s. It was a business coupe with a trunk large enough to sleep in without bending your knees.

Ahhh. and didn’t Plymouth sail off into the sunset as that emblem shows? That is a great piece, well done..
