My wife’s sister celebrated the birth of her first child a few days ago, so I made this seat for her nursery.
Used only hand tools for the build, including the mortising, shaping the legs and scooping the seat.
This was my first attempt at scooping a seat, all done with hammer chisel and spokeshave (because I didn’t really know what I was getting into).
Pretty satisfied with the result, though my mortise holes are a little sloppy, I wedged the through tenons with Rosewood a 1/2 inch total, which I found out after is probably too far… but it came through okay and didn’t split.
Hope you all enjoy photos, comments and critiques always welcome!

That is beautiful and I’m sure she will appreciate the effort and the stool.
