This is a box I made for a friends wedding. It is cherry with a maple top and a maple stripe. It is a fairly large box as you can see in the picture with our dog. It is about 12L x 8 h x 6 W. What I did was glue the invitation to to top of the box and then finished that with shellac. The rest of the box is finished with oil. I thought that they could use the box as a place to keep some wedding keepsakes.

Wow, that is a beautiful box. I love the fourth photo showing the matched grain on the top/front. And the maple strip… WOW. What a thoughtful wedding gift. The maple handle adds such a great touch.

Great idea well executed. It’s a great way to store and protect those special momentos, but even if it ends up in a closet as time goes on, it still honors the marriage.

Great work. I really like the maple stripe accent with the switching of the spline wood. Nice touch. Thanks for posting!

Nicely done! It should be treasured for the purpose and as a gift. Great choice of grain in the Cherry.

-- Robert, so much inspiration here, and now time to work!!!
